Log In for the First Time
After installing Intranet Connections in your internal environment, you'll be able to access the intranet site using a URL similar to http://server name or IP/Intranet.
Depending on how your site has been configured, you may not browse to the /Intranet folder as noted above. If you can't access your site, speak the person on your IT team who installed the software to find out how to access your site.
You'll be prompted for a set of login credentials (i.e., username and password). The default administrative credentials are:
After logging in, you'll arrive at the Home Page of your intranet site. The Home Page is the default landing page that all users will see after logging in to the intranet.
Log In to Your Intranet
If your intranet has been set up using Active Directory (AD), all user information will automatically be pulled in and users will be authenticated. No log in or log out is required.
If you're not using AD for your intranet, you'll be prompted for a log in when you land on the Home Page. Log in with the credentials you've been provided. You can log out by clicking the link, top right.
External Access to Intranet
Intranets are by definition an internal website with staff-only information. However, in many cases, organizations want to make this staff information available to those who are working offsite or travelling.
Security considerations are key when thinking about externalizing your intranet, and your Information Technology staff will definitely need to be involved. Learn more about externalizing your intranet in our Build an Extranet (Lockdown Guide) article.
Your intranet can be accessed on your cell phone under the following conditions:
- if your intranet site is internal only, but you're accessing the intranet using an internal or staff secure wifi network
- if your intranet site has been externalized
Your intranet will have a different home screen with a mobile view, similar to the layout shown below. Each icon links to mobile functionality which is different from the way you would access intranet information on your computer. Employee Directory and Search have full functionality on your cellphone. However, not all Apps will work with this mobile functionality; for those Apps, users will be brought to the full intranet site. Note that if you click VIEW FULL SITE, lower right on the mobile layout, you can access any page using the standard menu.
If you want to customize your mobile design, you can edit using the Advanced Theme Editor.
