The cafeteria menu uses a design much like the 'Employee Recognition' app, with one folder which makes it simple to view all items in a simple table layout on one page.
To create a Cafeteria Menu app:
- Delete the suggestion/idea field, file attachment, link field, and archive field
- Add in an html editor field and rename it 'Ingredients (allergies)'
- Rename your additional notes field "summary"
- Rename title 'item'
- Rename your Publish On field 'available'
- Add in a graphic field and rename it 'picture'
Now we want to create our Cafeteria Menu list view. When users click into the Cafeteria Menu application this is the view they will see of all the Menu items.
- Click on 'list view' on the right nav menu
- Choose Layout Type: Table
- Click Save
- From this screen, click 'edit fields'
We want to change this view so that we have four columns: Item, Picture, Ratings, and Comments.
This is the layout for the list view. We can determine which order items are sorted in by expanding 'sorting' located right above 'layout'. We will probably want our Primary Sort to be Created Date, but you could also sort by Item.
Now we want to set up our folders. If there is only one folder in an application, when clicking into that application the user will land into that folder. On the right hand side click on 'folders/security', click into folder 2 and delete the folder. Then click into folder 1 and rename the folder 'Items', and save.
Now we click 'go to app' and add in our first Menu item to test it out! After saving we are taken to the item view of the Menu item. To view the list view we can click the breadcrumb back to 'Items', which will list the things on the menu, like so:
Add an application widget to the home page to pull in the most recent items from your Cafeteria Menu app, or only pull in one item at a time and label it as the 'featured item' of the day. Employees can click 'view more' to take them into the Cafeteria Menu application to view the other items.
