Question:  I would like to set my website to open directly from the server address without adding intranet folder to the address.  How can I do this?

Answer:  To set your site to open at the intranet root, please take the following steps:

IIS6:

Go to your extranet server and log into your IIS manager.  Identify the website that your intranet is within, then right click on your intranets folder and select ‘properties’.   Now, select the home directory tab.  Under this, there will a ‘local path’ field.  Change the local path to point directly to the intranet folder.  For example, if you local path was C:\inetpub\wwwroot you would change this to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\intranet.

Next, open up your database and access the administrator_information table.  From here look for the intranetroot field.  You will need to place http://servername in this field.  Save the changes and close your database.

IIS7:

Go to your intranet server and log into your IIS manager.  Identify the website that your intranet is within, then select your intranet folder.  Now, select the Basic Settings option.

Please restart your Coldfusion application server service (Start > Run > Services.msc) and confirm that this resolves the issue.

Your site should now open at Http://(servername).

Go to the admin page using the new URL, Setup tab. There system will tell you that the Web Location has changed. Click update and the system will use the new URL. Part of this process is searching for any absolute URLs and changing them to the new URL, to correct any broken links.
