Our 15.5 release introduces the Push Communications extension, enabling users to distribute intranet content across their organization through a number of different communication channels.
Check out our upgrade instructions page to take advantage of the Push extension.
What is the Push Communications extension?
The Push tool (originally sold as a separate product called Reach) is a one-to-many messaging tool that enables communicators to message their colleagues through a range of different channels, including email, SMS, Microsoft Teams, and Slack. Now the tool is integrated with the intranet, intranet content can be distributed in the same way with just a few clicks and it's available to all our customers for no additional cost!
What does it do?
- Send messages to individuals or specific audience groups
- Messages are distributed to recipients based on their channel preference
- Track message metrics and analyze data for groups and individuals
- Send reminders to people who haven't read messages
- Build audience groups, or import from intranet/active directory
- Gather audience insight via feedback boxes, quick polls and sentiment tracking
- Publish intranet content, then easily distribute it in different channels
How does it work?
The Push tool uses information stored within your intranet (e.g. employee email addresses, departments, locations, groups etc.) to send emails to your team members and build audience groups to whom you can send targeted messages.
To take advantage of the other channel integrations (Microsoft Teams and Slack), you'll need to connect your organizations accounts with the Push tool on the settings page. To do this, you'll likely need admin access to Office 365 and Slack (or help from someone who does).
The ability to send messages, make changes to settings and manage users is controlled by "roles" within the Push tool which work separate from intranet permissions. "Administrators" have unrestricted access to the Push tool, "Communicators" are able to send messages and look at metrics, and "End users" simply receive messages and can edit their preferences. Learn more about roles within the Push tool here.
All users can indicate their channel preference, based on the channels that have been connected to the Push tool. Channel Strategy determines how messages will be sent out, and Administrators can decide whether to send based on their audience members' preference or through a number of different ways.
