Looking to refresh your intranet? Or, have you recently enabled Storyboard and noticed that spacing is different between each column? This article will show which settings control the spacing for your widgets, as well as other settings that can impact the look and feel of your site.

Page Titles and Icons
Page titles and icons account for some of the space at the top of your page. If you have Storyboard enabled, titles and icons will appear below the Storyboard. If you're utilizing a left column for site navigation, having page titles and/or icons will make it harder to align all widgets.
To remove page titles and icons:
- Navigate to the page
- Click hover over the Admin icon > click Page Admin
- Click the checkbox icon beside 'show icon', 'show title' and/or 'show description' (a)
- Uncheck the box beside each applicable option and click the save icon (b)
- Once saved, you should now see an X beside the option (c) as shown in the image below for 'show title'
Widget Spacing
The widget spacing we're focusing on in this section refers to just the widgets on the page, not including those found in the left column. To adjust the spacing:
- Navigate to Admin > Design tab > Global Site Layout
- You can see the spacing broken down into the following sections:
- Between the top menu and breadcrumb
- Between breadcrumb and title
- Between title and the 'this area takes up the remaining width' & right column sections
- The 'top' option located in the left column
- Adjust the values in the boxes provided between 'top menu' and the right column section and have them add up to the value listed in the 'top' option in the left column. For example, if 'top' in the left column is set to 30, try switching the values in the other 3 boxes to 10.
- Save changes and open the home page on another browser tab to compare as you adjust. This will take some playing around to get the spacing just right.
Note: Make sure to check for hidden widgets as they may be causing the spacing to appear differently on the page.
Widget Size
Some widgets have the option of setting their height and width. This is especially useful for content feed widgets (e.g. Application Feed, What's New feed, etc). While designing your page, it can become frustrating to move things around only to have content further pushed down the page as your content feed grows larger.
To modify the size:
- Click 'Edit Page' from the toolbar
- Hover over the widget and click the edit icon
- Scroll down to the Widget Width and Widget Height section
- Select 'vertical scroll' and set the widget height
- Click 'Save Widgets' at the bottom of the page
If you have 2 widgets side by side, this allows them to display as the same size and adds a vertical scroll bar to allow scrolling through additional items.
This is a tricky one as not all hidden widgets take up space on the home page. For example, 'expired' widgets with end dates won't take up extra space, however, widgets that are triggered to show for specific reasons, such as the Read Confirm widget, will take up space when the widget is hidden.
One consideration would be to add a Read Confirm widget to the bottom of the left column for site navigation. This would only work if your left column has minimal widgets as the point of the widget is to remind the user they have items that need their attention. Another trick would be to move the Read Confirm widget above or under widgets that have their header disabled within the theme options of that widget.
