WARNING:
This version is compatible with supported browsers Chrome, Firefox, and new Edge (Chromium).
This version requires that you are patched up to v16.5.4 and that you have enabled "Enhanced Password Security" in your system.
Should you wish to proceed with upgrading to 17.0, please take appropriate backups (both database and webserver files), including a server snapshot. In the event of any issues during the upgrade process, please report any screenshots, upgrade logs, or questions to our support team and if the site is inaccessible, please restore both the database and files from the appropriate backups.
IMPORTANT: You must update your Lucee installation to version 5.4.8.2. This version is required for v17.0 to run stable. Please refer to this article for a step by step instruction guide on how to do this. Lucee will need to be reinstalled AFTER the 17.0 upgrade is applied.
IMPORTANT: The installer zip is approximately 75MB, admins will need to make sure IIS is configured to accept uploads of this size.
- Open IIS Manager Select your site or application
- Double-click Request Filtering in the Features view
- Click Edit Feature Settings in the Actions pane (right side)
- Change Maximum allowed content length to your desired value (in bytes) Click OK
Prep for Upgrade
Preparation is key to a successful upgrade. Ensure all of the following items have been checked off before beginning your upgrade.
Start by reading the Upgrade Process Overview article to understand the entire process.

Find the download in "Admin - Home" under "Product Updates". If you don't see it there, teach out to the technical support team to receive the upgrade file.
- Confirm the web server has the following minimum Server Specifications for 17.0:
- CPU: 1 * Quad Core
- RAM: 16GB
- Apply the latest patch for your version to the intranet (v16 Patches). The minimum patch version for this upgrade is 16.5.4.
Upgrade Process
Prior to starting your upgrade, back up your intranet database and application files, as outlined in the Upgrade Process Overview article. Do not proceed with your upgrade if you haven't backed up files.
Note: Computers running Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016 apply a 'block' attribute to zip files when downloaded. Right-click > select Properties > look for Security > check the box beside Unblock and click Apply.
- Stop the SQBoxTaskManager service on the webserver before proceeding
- Don't extract the contents of the zip file as the software will do this automatically.
- On your intranet, go to the Admin area and click the Setup tab (previous versions may have a 'Site Settings' or 'Settings' tab)
- Click the link click here next to Manual Upload (In previous versions, the wording may be different
- In the file explorer, locate and select the downloaded patch zip
- Click Install
- Type in the Lucee Admin and Lucee Server password (contact Support for the default password, or Reset your Lucee Password)
- Allow the update process to complete

Start the SQBoxTaskManager service on the webserver.
Install Complete
Once the update has finished installing, the browser will refresh and reveal your new version number. If the page appears to stay on the install screen for longer than 10 minutes, try refreshing the page, as the updater may have timed out.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter an error like this when applying this update:
Please open up your Lucee Server edition (orange background) and select 'Applications' and make sure your Compress tags extension is at 1.0.0.2.

If the upgrade / patch file disappears from the admin page after uploading
Please delete the updates.xml and announcements.xml files from the Updates folder on the web server. Once they are removed, please put the patch in this file path and refresh the intranet. From there 16.0 should be available for you to install.
